A Sober Living & Loving Community

Our home is built off of love and compassion. We work as a team to provide the opportunity to rebuild lives without the use of drugs and alcohol. We provide the tools and support to guide our residents through the 12 steps of recovery.

Our home consists of 16 females all with the same goal in mind, to recover from a hopeless state of mind and body.

We are conveniently located in a family friendly neighborhood, right along the bus route, steps away from a shopping plaza and with in walking distance of dozens of meetings!

Laura Gobis is a proud member of the recovery community. Once hopeless and broken, she has found her strength through her higher power and the 12 Steps, finding motivation through helping others.

Knowing there was a need for quality sober living for women in the Portland, Maine area, Laura maintains a well rounded, structured program that offers a multitude of tools to help women recover and prosper.

Her goal is to give as many women as possible the gift of recovery and to show them what has worked for her.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

All donations will go directly towards securing housing for women in need!

To the women who are looking for a happy, healthy and more positive way of living, The Amethyst House is a step in that direction. I moved into The Amethyst House two days sober in June of 2016, right off the street and completely broken. I started taking suggestions from the women I lived with by getting a sponsor to help guide me through the 12 steps. I started getting to a meeting everyday and building relationships with other women in the house for support. I continued living at Amethyst up until February of 2018; 20 months of sobriety! I was able to grow mentally, physically and spiritually while being surrounded by other women going through the same things. I looked up to those who seemed to be strong and happy because I wanted what they had. I honestly can't imagine getting sober in any other environment. Every night I looked forward to coming home to a safe, clean and welcoming home with all of my ladies present. No matter what my day looked like, I always knew I would have support to get me through. I built real friendships with women who would be there for me in a heartbeat. I was taught how to meditate, pray and work on inventory while living at the house. I was able to move into an apartment when expressing that I finally felt ready to move on. Management helped prepare me for a fresh start on my own and reassured me that I was always welcome to come back whenever I wanted. I am beyond grateful for my journey of sober living at Amethyst and will never forget where it began. Thank you Amethyst for giving me back the peace , happiness and serenity that I once lost and now found!
